In an age of musicians trying to stand out and create something new, we just wanted to do what the greatest musicians of all time did for decades before us.....SWING! The music on this record is bluesy, sleek and soulful with a groove.
This isn't a drummers record. It is a lovingly curated collection of original compositions as well as compositions that showcase the colors of the organ trio with respect to the masters that came before in the lineage of all of the respective instruments--guitar, bass, and drums. All of the musicians on T-MAN are of equal importance in the overall picture and hopefully become invisible in the sense that the sound of the group is paramount to the individuals involved. The great bassist and composer, Rufus Reid refers to the music presented here by saying, "The chemistry with organist, Kyle Koehler, and guitarist, Ed Cherry, truly sparkles! Jason plays the drums with an infectious swinging conviction with a savvy of the lineage of the great Jazz Master drummers. To hear his original compositions was a huge plus to round out a strong program!"
