The project originated in the early 1980's. Koto was first an Italian synth group, founded by Anfrando Majoli and Stefano Cundari ( and recorded at Memory Records (Italy). Together they released several tracks such as Visitors, Dragon s Legend Jabdah, Chinese Revenge and. In 1989, the German record label ZYX Music bought rights to all Memory Records catalogue, including the rights to the music of "Koto" and the name. Also they are requested (it is known from Laserdance project) to Michael van der Kay (eng. Michiel van der Kuy), so he re-recorded and mixed some of the old Koto tracks.
